For your baby to grow strong and healthy it is necessary that take good care of early feeding, since it will depend on their development. The first six months of life, breast milk is their staple food. This is digested faster than formula milk or produced from cow’s milk. From the fourth month you can begin to introduce new foods in the baby’s diet, such as semi-solids. Just do not forget that most of the calories of the child should still be coming from breast milk.
Semi-solid and solid foods
You can start to try crushed purees or cereal mixed with milk, and as the months goes forward, soft fruit like bananas. Of course, try to give only one food at a time to see if it causes any allergic reaction. And remember that novel foods should be given only when the baby is hungry.
To know if your child is ready to take solid foods you should check that his birth weight has doubled; the baby can control the neck and head; he can sit with some support; he can show that he is happy with a nod to one side or not opening his mouth, and beginning to show interest in food when others are eating.
From the sixth to eighth month you can start feeding fruit compotes, soft and cooked vegetables washed and peeled fruits, graham crackers, finite toasts. What it is not recommended are the sugary or salty foods.
Of the eight to 12 months and you can encourage them to eat minced meat. In terms of the sizes of portions of fruits and vegetables, raise them 3 to 4 tablespoons, four times a day. The eggs can be delivered to 3-4 times a week, but only the yolk until the baby is one year old, as some babies are sensitive to the egg whites.
By age, most babies have already left bottle; But if they still take it, it should contain only water. At this age they are ready to take a variety of meats, fruits, vegetables, breads and dairy products, especially whole milk.
